ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday suspendedthe returning officer (RO) of Abbotabad’s NA-16 constituency.
According to details, Syed Ibrahim Shah was dismissed from post overdisobeying ECP’s orders.
On the other hand, ECP has issued code of conduct for political parties andcandidates.
All political parties and independent candidates will wind up theirelection campaign at 12:00midnight.
According to an ECP official, electronic and print media would also avoidtelecasting or publishing advertisements for the purpose of politicalcampaign which tends to malign or favour a particular political party.
He said under Section-182 of the Elections Act, 2017, no person wouldconvene, hold or attend any public meeting and promote or join anyprocession within the area of the constituency during a period of 48 hoursending at midnight following the conclusion of poll.
He said any person, who contravened the provisions of law, shall bepunishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years orwith Rs1 lac fine.
A monitoring and control room headed by Director General Administration hasalso been established in ECP to address the complaints.
