LAHORE – Nawaz Sharif will not be shifted to hospital any time soon. It wasearlier reported that he has suffered from kidney problem but the jaildoctor has declared him fit.

Earlier few Doctors had requested authorities to shift former primeminister Nawaz Sharif to hospital from Adiala jail, citing his ill health.

Dr Azhar Kiani and Dr Hamid Sharif Khan, who carried out the medicalexamination of the PML-N supremo, requested that Nawaz Sharif be shifted toa cardiology institute in Rawalpindi.

Interim Punjab Law Minister Zia Haider Rizvi, while confirming thedevelopment, said authorities have not received a formal application inthis regard.

He added that the interim provincial government will constitute a medicalboard after receiving the application and would take measures suggested bythe board.

Rivzi said the government decided to provide air conditioners to NawazSharif in Adiala on humanitarian grounds , adding that such facilites werenot mentioned in the Prisons Rule.

Nawaz was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a National AccountabilityBureau (NAB) court over his family’s purchase of luxury apartments inLondon, whereas, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The former premier’s son-in-law was also sent to jail for one-year on thesame charge.

The Avenfield reference is one of the three corruption references, filed bythe National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on orders of the Supreme Court ofPakistan (SCP), which disqualified Nawaz Sharif, ousting him frompremiership and finding him guilty in the Panama Paper case verdict.
