*DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Former minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)candidate Sardar Ikram Khan Gandapur was injured in a bomb blast near hiscar in a DI Khan neighborhood on Sunday.*
Police said Gandapur was injured along with four others while his driverdied in a suicide blast near his vehicle in Kulachi area of DI Khan.
They were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where the PTI leader isstated to be in critical condition.
A suicide bomber blew himself up near the vehicle of Ikram Khan Gandapur ashe left his house for election campaign, district police chief ZaheerAfridi said.
A large contingent of security personnel swarmed the blast site andcordoned it off for security purposes.
The former minister is in the run for a provincial assembly seat (PK-99).He remained provincial agricultural minister in the previous government ofthe party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This is the latest in a series of attacks targeting election candidates inthe country in the past few weeks.
On July 13, more than 150 people were killed and 180 injured in twoseparate terror attacks during election-related activities in Balochistanand KP.
Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was among142 people killed in a suicide attack on an election rally in the Mastungarea. Around 150 people were injured in the tragic incident.
