Interpol issues red warrants for Ishaq Dar, likely to be arrested anytime

ISLAMABAD: Interpol has issued red notice for fugitive former financeminister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar upon request of the Pakistan government.

Earlier the Ministry of Interior had issued red notice for former financeminister Ishaq Dar, who is in London on account of his medical treatment.

The sources said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested theinterior ministry for the issuance of red notice.

Late last year, an executive board meeting, chaired by Chairman NAB JavedIqbal, had decided to bring Dar back to Pakistan with the help of theInterpol.

“He [Dar] is suffering from no such ailment that cannot be treated inPakistan,” a notification issued by the anti-graft body had said.linklink

Dar is currently receiving medical treatment in London. The former financeminister is accused of possessing assets disproportionate to his declaredsources of income.

A reference against the former finance minister was filed by the NAB inlight of the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case.

Dar had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by the accountabilitycourt due to his continuous absence from the proceedings.
