*MULTAN: *A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged for abusing PakistanArmy and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa.

FIR was lodged against a man at the Sadar Police Station in Bahawalpurunder for insulting and abusing Pakistan Army on the social media website:Facebook.

The police said the FIR lodged under Section 124-A of the Pakistan PenalCode (PPC) and Section 29-D of the Telegraph Act on the complaint ofBismillah Khan against Abdul Qayyum Arayin for posting obnoxious messagesand photos on his Facebook account against Pakistan Army and Chief of ArmyStaff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The complainant said he and his two friends, Sajid Ali and Mohammad, werechecking news feed on the social media website when the post caught theirattention.

He added that he personally knows Abdul Qayyum and thought that his postmay induce people towards hatred and disrespectful behaviour against thestate institution.

He demanded that strict action be taken in accordance with the law againstthe accused.

ASI Babar Ali Shah told the media that investigation was underway on theissue.

Section 124-A is related to sedition, which states that whoever brings intohatred or contempt against the federal and provincial governments shall bepunished with up to imprisonment for life and fine may be added.
