Afghan Army former General mysteriously killed in Kabul

KABUL – Zalmay Wardak, a former Afghan national army general, a militaryanalyst and possible candidate for upcoming parliamentary elections, wasmysteriously murdered at his residence in Kabul on Thursday night.

Kabul police said the cause of the murder seems to be personal enmity andthat police have arrested his driver in connection to the incident, TOLONews has reported.

“How the criminals and enemies of religion and the country dare to commitkilling and murder of innocent people?” asked Farooq Wardak, minister ofstate for parliamentary affairs.

Meanwhile, residents in Kabul have accused security institutions of failureto ensure the safety of the people.

“it should be investigated that how he was murdered. This is dangerous andcould spread to others if it is not prevented,” said military analyst AbdulWahid Taqat.

“Police swiftly reached to the scene after getting the report, but thecriminals had escaped. Investigation is ongoing,” said Nusrat Rahimi,Interior Ministry’s deputy spokesman.
