ISLAMABAD – Former president Asif Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpurfailed to appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) in the moneylaundering and fake accounts case.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to move theSupreme Court. The decision to re-summon both accused will be made on courtorders.
Farooq H Naik, counsel for former president Asif Zardari, appeared beforethe FIA committee and contended that elected candidates have to appearbefore the RO of their respective constituency.
The FIA had summoned Asif Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur had summonedthem to record their statement.
Asif Zardari’s close aide Hussain Lawai is also under arrest in the case.
Faryal Talpur, while submitting Rs two million as surety bonds, said thatmoney laundering has not been mentioned in the FIR and her role is notclear in the challan. She denied the charges against her.
