LAHORE – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) directors, Dr Usman Anwer andWaqar Abbasi land in hot waters for not complying with court orders.
They have been directed to appear on September 13 by the Lahore High Court(LHC) for not complying with the orders on a petition by lecturer KhujistaRehan of the Punjab University Law College.
Justice Tariq Iftikhar Ahmed had passed the orders on the petition in whichKhujista had claimed that FIA was not complying with the legal clauses ofcyber laws. She had further stated that the agency was not any takingaction against the five accused namely Sania Zehra Malik, Rana Shafeeq,Abid Hussain, Imran Javaid and Imran Alam. The accused are also professorsof the varsity.
FIA Director Dr Usman has rejected the allegations levelled on him by thePU teacher and said that an inquiry was carried out following the complaint.
“An FIR was lodged against the accused and a report was submittedaccordingly to the court later. It is up to the court to now decide if thebail applications of the accused are to be accepted or if they are to bearrested. As far as the FIA is concerned, the agency has done its job andhas no further involvement in the case.”
