Pakistan Army wants better ties with India for economic cushion for country: New York Times

NEW YORK – According to New York Times, with Pakistan economy in a badshape, the Pakistan Army is looking for better ties with India so that theycan get a breather.

Reportedly Pak Army Chief General Bajwa was interested in opening channelsof communications with the primary goal of re-starting trade relationshipbetween the two neighbours.

Bajwa and his Indian Army counterpart general Bipin Rawat goes back a longtime to their service for peacekeeping forces in Congo.

According to Pakistan Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, ” Till theIndian elections, there cannot be an immediate betterment in bilateralrelations”.

Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Imran Khan too have made positive signalsabout improving relationship with India despite his massive anti-Modi andanti-India rhetoric in the run-up to the polls.
