Modi wants tensed situation to win upcoming polls: Senate Body

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Interior Friday strongly condemned threats by Indian Army Chief and their undiplomatic response by declining Foreign Ministers’ Meeting between two countries in New York.

A resolution passed in the meeting, chaired by Senator Rehman Malik, said the Committee felt it was a sheer disrespect shown against Pakistan and it also clearly indicated inimical and non-cooperative mindset of India to opt not to proceed with peace process but a confronting policy.

The Committee called upon the international community to take notice of membership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi being Member of the RSS – a terrorist organization.

The Committee also condemned Indian brutalities in Indian held Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Senators including Javed Abbasi, Chaudhry Tanvir, Atiqque Shaikh, Azam Swati and representatives of relevant ministries.

Rehman Malik said, “Modi you and your coward army chief Bipin Rawat should stop issuing threats to Pakistan.”

He maintained that Modi wants a “tensed situation” between Pakistan and India in order to win upcoming polls.

The Committee also discussed issue of alleged rigging in general elections for which it had convened several meetings.

Rehman Malik appreciated members of the committee for completing 80 percent work on finding alleged irregularities

during general election. The committee has already submitted three reports on the issue in Senate.

Rehman Malik said, “We express satisfaction over formation of a parliamentary committee to probe alleged rigging in

the elections, adding Senate Body on Interior would extend full cooperation to Parliamentary Committee so as to find the loopholes.”
