RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa hasbriefed Italian leadership over the successes of the Pakistan Army in waragainst terrorism.
COAS on Wednesday visited Italy and met Italian Defence Minister, Chief ofItalian Army and the Secretary General of Defence.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR),matters pertaining to bilateral defence and security cooperation includingpotential joint initiatives came under discussion, during the meetings.
On the occasion, the Italian leadership was highly appreciative of the roleplayed by Pakistan in regional stability and also towards global security.They also maintained that Pakistan is well on its way towards a prosperousfuture and that the two countries will benefit by building on the existingrelationship between the two countries.
When asked about the success formula in war against terrorism, Gen QamarJaved Bajwa said that it was due to the spirit of sacrifice and support ofthe nation, especially the people of tribal areas and the families ofmartyrs and ghazis.

He said that though the fight was still on, Pakistan has emerged strongerfrom the tribulations, adding that today’s Pakistan is open to the worldand the government is looking for peace within and peace without to provideour people the prosperity they deserve after the difficult times.
During the stay, the COAS was also presented demonstrations of Italiandefence capabilities both for land and amphibious operations.
