ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a key decision over theChina Pakistan Economic Corridor project direction.
PM Khan has decided to shift the focus of the China-Pakistan EconomicCorridor (CPEC) from motorways to agriculture, job creation and foreigninvestment.
The Information minister, Fawad Ch said Prime Minister Imran Khan will payhis first visit to China in the first week of November. “Arrangements arebeing made for the visit and its date is yet to be finalised,” he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday chaired a high-level meeting to deliberateon his forthcoming visit to China and review the projects under theChina-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The meeting was attended by Ministers for Foreign Affairs Shah MahmoodQureshi, Finance Asad Umar, Information Fawad Chaudhry, Planning KhusroBukhtiar, Power Omer Ayub Khan, Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
“Earlier, the CPEC was only aimed at construction of motorways andhighways, but now the prime minister decided that it will be used tosupport the agriculture sector, create more jobs and attract other foreigncountries like Saudi Arabia to invest in the country,” Chaudhry said.
The minister said CPEC was a great opportunity to learn from the Chineseexperience, especially in the social, agricultural and other sectors.
