ISLAMABAD – To exclude Pakistan from the greylist or include in theblacklist, final negotiations between the Financial Action Task Force(FATF) and the government began on Monday (today).
FATF delegation reached yesterday night in Islamabad on the visit fromOctober 7 to 9 to negotiate exclusion of Pakistan from Gray list.
The FATF delegation will meet officials of the ministries of finance andinterior, the financial monitoring unit, and the state bank. The sourcessaid that the administrative and legal measures taken by Pakistan to stopthe monetary assistance of terrorists will also be reviewed by the foreignteam.
The foreign team is also likely to hold meetings with officials of theSecurities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and law enforcementagencies. The measures taken by SECP, National Accountability Bureau (NAB)and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) will be discussed.
After the visit of FATF delegation, the team will also recommend exclusionof Pakistan’s name from Gray list or inclusion on the Black list. On theother hand, SECP also has completed paper work to stop monetary assistanceof terrorists and the money laundering.
