Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi called his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and gave him details on the terrorist attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi told him that Pakistani law enforcing agencies sacrificed their lives in a timely action to neutralize all the terrorists.
He said this incident was a failed attempt to weaken Pak China friendship and CPEC.
The Foreign Minister assured his counterpart that protection of foreign diplomats in Pakistan is our national obligation that is being carried out effectively.
Wang Yi appreciated the timely action of Pakistani law enforcing agencies and thanked Shah Mehmood Qureshi for his cooperation.
He also paid rich tributes to police personnel killed in the line of duty and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
Any attempt to undermine China-Pakistan relationship doomed to fail: Lijian Zhao
Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Lijian Zhao has appreciated Pakistan Army and police for their timely and proper action in response to the Karachi terror attack.
He said China believes that the Pakistani side is able to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan.
The Deputy Chief further said that any attempt to undermine China-Pakistan relationship is doomed to fail.
Meanwhile, addressing a regular press briefing in Beijing today (Friday), Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang said that all Chinese consular staff and their families are safe following the attack.
He said China strongly condemns any violent attacks against diplomatic agencies and requests that Pakistan should practical measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the country.
