ISLAMABAD – TV anchorperson and Pakistan Television (PTV) former chairmanDr Shahid Masood was arrested in a corruption case on Friday.
He appeared before the Islamabad High Court to get bail in Rs38 million PTVmisappropriation case but the plea was turned down by Justice Mohsin AkhtarKiyani.
Therefore, the television personality, who was earlier punished by theSupreme Court for spreading misinformation in the Zainab killing case, wasapprehended outside the court by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Earlier, he was granted an interim bail by the high court till Nov 12 inthe case. A special court of the FIA, in October, issued warrants forMasood after rejecting his pre-arrest bail plea.
Dr. Masood has been accused of signing an agreement with a fake company tonegotiate PTV’s grant rights with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for thecoverage of matches played in Pakistan, causing loss to the national kitty.
