Pakistan hints at sharing nuclear technology expertise with developing countries

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Muhammad Azam KhanSwati Thursday said with more than four decades of experience in utilizingnuclear technologies for peaceful purposes, Pakistan stood ready to shareits expertise with other developing countries through the IAEA’s platform.

He, who is leading Pakistan’s delegation at the first-ever MinisterialConference on Nuclear Science and Technology, organized by theInternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna from November 28 to 30,was speaking to a conference, a Foreign Office press release said.

The minister highlighted Pakistan’s achievements in the peaceful uses ofnuclear energy in fields such as power generation, health, industry andagriculture.

He appreciated the IAEA’s contribution in promoting the peaceful uses ofnuclear technology which could help in achieving sustainable developmentand mitigating climate change.

Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Muhammad Naeem and Ambassador ofPakistan in Vienna Mansoor Ahmed Khan are also attending the conference.

Pakistan is one of the founding members of the IAEA and has been regularlyserving on its board of governors.
