Pakistan and Egypt vow to enhance strategic ties

ISLAMABAD – The 8th Round of Political Consultations between Pakistan andEgypt was held in Islamabad on Monday.

Special Secretary Middle East, OIC and Legal Affairs, Syed Hassan Raza ledthe Pakistani side whereas Egyptian delegation was led by Assistant ForeignMinister for Asian Affairs, Khaled Sarwat.

The two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations andexpressed satisfaction about the strong bilateral ties. They discussed waysand means to strengthen and diversify the existing cooperation including inpolitical, economic, trade, investment, defence, education and culturalfields.

They underscored the need for exchange of high level visits betweenPakistan and Egypt to inject greater content to bilateral relations. Thetwo sides agreed to realize the true potential of bilateral trade andagreed on certain measures like visa facilitation for businessmen, exchangeof trade related information and business delegations and to promote directprivate sector contacts. It was agreed to hold 4th session of JointMinisterial Commission during the first quarter of next year, in Islamabad.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues withparticular focus on Afghanistan South Asia, Palestine, Syria and UNreforms. There was convergence of views on important issues of regionalimportance.

They noted with satisfaction cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt inmultilateral fora and agreed to maintain and further enhance it in future.
