SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership hasexpressed serious concern over the miserable plight of the Kashmiriprisoners in different jails, particularly those lodged in Delhi’s TiharJail.
The leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Dr Mirwaiz Umar Farooq andMuhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement in Srinagar said revengeful attitudeof the rulers in Delhi had crossed every limit of heartlessness andsensitivity and they were willfully prolonging the detention of theKashmiri prisoners through judicial victimization.
The JRL appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Council, AmnestyInternational, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Crossto take cognizance of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiriinmates.
Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership organized a protest rally atAabi Guzar in Srinagar, on Friday, demanding release of all Kashmiridetainees.
On the other hand, Indian police and troops arrested seven youth duringcordon and search operations and nocturnal raids in different areas ofShopian district. The police also arrested a youth, Riyaz Ahmed, fromKishtwar.
Meanwhile, in Oslo, the Executive Director of Kashmiri ScandinavianCouncil, Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan in a statement hailed the NorwegianPrime Minister, Erna Solberg for raising the Kashmir dispute during herofficial visit to India. He said Norwegian Prime Minister’s interest tohelp resolve the lingering dispute is a significant and commendabledevelopment.
