KABUL – Top commander of the Taliban group Mullah Abdul Basir have beenkilled in an airstrike in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North in a statementsaid the airstrike was carried out by coalition forces late on afternoonevening, Khaama Press has reported.
The statement further added that the gathering was targeted in NawsharBaloch area of Chemtal district, leaving Mawlavi Abdul Basir alias Badardead with his two fighters.
According to 209th Shaheen Corps, an armored vehicle of the militants wasalso destroyed along with several motorcycles in the airstrike.
Another militant was killed during a clash with the security forces inDarwaza Khwaja area of the province, the 209th Shaheen Corps added in itsstatement.
