Kashmiri leaders respond over PM Imran Khan raising Kashmir issue in Turkey

*SRINAGAR, JAN 05 (PTK):*Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz UmarFarooq on Saturday welcomed the statement of Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan onKashmir during his interaction with Turkish president Reccip Tayyip Erdogan.

Mirwaiz said that Turkey has always been a strong supporter of Right toSelf Determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and an active memberof OIC contact group on Kashmir.

“Welcome the statement of Pakistan’s PM @ImranKhanPTI on Kashmir during hisinteraction with Turkish President @RT_Erdogan. Turkey has always been astrong supporter of Right to self determination for the people ofJammu&Kashmir and a active member of OIC contact group on #Kashmir,” hetweeted.

Turkey Friday said the Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the UNresolutions, after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan met Turkish PresidentRecep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish stand appeared in a joint statement issued at the end of atwo-day visit by Khan to Turkey on the invitation of Erdogan. Khan’smeeting with Erdogan was followed by delegation-level talks.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing a joint pressconference with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said peace betweenPakistan and India could not exist unless the two sides sat together fordialogue. “We are trying to have friendly relations with India and offeredthe neighbouring country negotiations many times in the recent past, butIndia refused to talk,” he added.

He said Kashmir was the bone of contention between Pakistan and India asIndian armed forces had broken all records of “barbarity and atrocities” oninnocent Kashmiris in “India-held Kashmir”, Dawn reported. “Stabi­lity cancome when India and Pakistan sit together for talks,” he added.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to achieving and sustaining peace,security and stability in their respective regions as well asinternationally. They underscored the need for resolution of the issue ofJammu and Kashmir through a sustained dialogue process and in accordancewith the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. (PTK)
