A shift in US foreign policy for Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Thursday said that it is looking forward topositive engagement with the United States at the leadership level.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal was responding to thequeries of media persons at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on thestatement made by US President Donald Trump that he is willing to meet thenew Pakistani leadership.

The spokesperson said President Donald Trump’s remarks are indeed adeparture from his 1st January 2018 tweet.

Earlier, US President said “We want to have a great relationship withPakistan.”

However, he also accused Islamabad of “housing the enemy and taking care ofhim”.

Reportedly, his remarks came when he was addressing a meeting with thecabinet members.

“When we give money to Pakistan, $1.3 billion, I ended that. A lot ofpeople don t know it, because they haven t been fair to us,” Trump said.
