Removing 172 people from ECL: Federal Cabinet takes the final decision

ISLAMABAD: The Federal cabinet on Wednesday has taken final decision overremoving the names of 172 placed on ECL.

Federal cabinet has not removed the 172 names from ECL after Supreme Courtordered government to reviews the names put on ECL.

Cabinet has decided to review the 172 names recently placed on the ExitControl List (ECL) on an individual basis.

The federal cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

A total of 172 names were placed on the ECL after the Joint InvestigationTeam’s (JIT) report in money laundering and fake accounts case.

However, it was decided during the meeting that not all names will beremoved from the list immediately but on a case by case basis after aninvestigation is completed.

According to State Interior Minister Shahriyar Khan Afridi, the premier wasgiven a briefing over the matter by legal experts during the meeting.

In addition, the meeting was held under a 20-point agenda, includingdiscussion of union council chairman’s registration, Pakistan-Chinaprisoner transfer, constitution of a special committee for transformationin Karachi and the sale of poor quality stents.
