ISLAMABAD – A preliminary meeting of the Committee for formulating theproposed Pak-Turkey Strategic Economic Framework was held in Islamabadtoday with Finance Minister Asad Umar in the chair.
Addressing the meeting, Finance Minister said proposal for establishment ofthe framework was discussed and agreed with the Turkish side during therecent visit of Prime Minister to Turkey.
The framework aims to enhance bilateral economic cooperation withparticular focus on trade and investment.
The Minister made special mention of the exemplary headway that Turkey hasmade in the realm of tourism and said Pakistan could greatly benefit fromits experience in developing its own tourism sector.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Zubaida Jalal, KhusroBakhtiar, Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Muhammad Mian Soomro and Chairman Board ofInvestment Haroon Sharif.
The Finance Minister directed the Ministries concerned along with the Boardof Investment to provide their inputs for the proposed framework within twoweeks.
He said it will be consolidated by the Economic Affairs Division as a draftdocument and subsequently finalized to be shared with the Turkish side.
The Minister said the framework would help boost the existing Pak-Turkeycooperation to a much stronger level.
