Afghan Taliban delegation visit to Pakistan postponed: Sources

ISLAMABAD – Afghan Taliban delegation visit to Pakistan has been postponed,Sources have revealed.

As per media report, A delegation of the Afghan Taliban, which wasscheduled to arrive in Islamabad on February 19, has postponed its visitbecause of travel restrictions, Taliban spokesperson confirmed Sunday.

A meeting between the Afghan Taliban delegation and Prime Minister ImranKhan was scheduled too.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that Islamabad will host ameeting between the Afghan Taliban and the US in Islamabad.

“The Islamic Emirate had arranged for their representatives to participatebut unfortunately, most members of the negotiations team were unable totravel due to the US and UN blacklist and the meeting was postponed,”Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman said in a statement.

He said that the Taliban had completed their preparations for the visit.

On February 13, Taliban said that a negotiating team of Afghan Taliban willbe visiting Islamabad next week to hold another round of negotiations withthe officials of the US.

The statement said that the Taliban team will also meet Prime MinisterImran Khan “to hold comprehensive discussions about Pak-Afghan relationsand issues pertaining to Afghan refugees and Afghan businessmen”.
