KABUL – The US Secretary Mike Pompeo, in a telephonic conversation withAfghan President Ashraf Ghani, has reinforced Washington’s enduringinvestment in Afghanistan, as outlined in the President Trump’s South Asiastrategy.
According to a press release issued by the US State Department SpokespersonHeather Nauert, Mike Pompeo commended President Ghani for his commitment tobuild a secure and prosperous future for his country.
He also expressed support for the Afghan military’s defence of the city ofFarah.

The two sides also discussed the strong partnership between the UnitedStates and Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism and Washington’ssupport for an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process.
