ISTANBUL – Turkish police on Tuesday detained at least 22 people inIstanbul over their suspected links to the Islamic State (IS), local mediareported.

Police launched simultaneous operations in 27 locations across the city tocapture the suspects, the private NTV broadcaster said.

The detainees were allegedly seeking to recruit new members and collectfinancial aid to the families of IS members, and they frequently went toconflict zones in Syria and have published a magazine to hide their illegalactivities.

During the raids, police also seized many organizational documents andsupplies, according to NTV. More than 300 people were killed in deadlyattacks in Turkey over the years blamed on the IS. – APP/Xinhua
