Afghanistan government concerned over sidelined from the key peace talks

ISLAMABAD – US special envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad arrived inDoha, Qatar ton Monday to kick off fresh high-level talks with the Talibanaimed at ending the 17-year Afghan conflict.

In a tweet, Zalmay Khalilzad said this could be a significant moment.

He also appreciated Qatar for hosting talks and Pakistan in facilitatingthe travel.

Taliban delegation leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is already in Doha fortalks.

Meanwhile the government in Kabul continued to voice concerns today overbeing sidelined in the negotiations.

Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah in a televised address inKabul on Monday said the Taliban are still not ready to talk to Afghangovernment, but we are ready.

He said we are flexible and ready to make a team that is acceptable to all.
