Kidnapped Indian engineer recovered back from Afghanistan

KABUL – The Ministry of External Affairs of India has confirmed that oneof the kidnapped Indian engineers has been released and has returned homefrom Afghanistan.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs ofIndia, efforts are underway for the release of remaining kidnappedengineers.

“One of the seven Indian nationals, who was kidnapped in Baghlan provinceof Afghanistan in May 2018, has safely returned to India,” the statementsaid.

“We are grateful to the Government of Afghanistan for their support insecuring the release and repatriation of the Indian national,” it added.

The engineers were kidnapped by anti-government armed militants fromChashma-e-Sher area of Baghlan province on 6th of May last year as theywere working on a substation construction project.
