SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities have arrested over 700resistance and religious leaders and activists during massive crackdownoperations.
Prominent among 21 of the detainees slapped with black law, Public SafetyAct, include Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhiand teenage boy Aqib Gulzar.
All these detainees were shifted to the jails outside the Kashmir valley.
Illegally detained Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Masarrat AalamButt, was brought from Amphala jail in Jammu to Srinagar for hearing in afake case lodged against him in 2015.
Hurriyat leaders, Bar Association, trade bodies and civil society memberswhile condemning the arrests urged the United Nations, OIC, Human RightsCouncil, International Committee of Red Cross and Amnesty International totake notice of the worst human rights situation in the occupied territory.
Meanwhile, Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in differentareas of Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Baramulla districts, today.
The troops during door-to-door search operations forced the inmates to stayoutside for hours.
The forces’ action triggered clashes between the troops and people inDrubgam area of Pulwama district.
On the other hand, it was demanded at a workshop organized by the Jammu andKashmir United Peace Movement that the Kashmir dispute be resolved throughtalks between Pakistan and India.
