2 voting turnout recorded in Occupied Kashmir polling stations on sham Indian elections

*SRINAGAR (KMS) – In Occupied Kashmir, an overwhelming majority boycottedthe third phase of the so-called polling for the Indian parliamentaryelections in the territory on Tuesday.*

Islamabad constituency of Lok Sabha, 65 polling booths witnessed zerovotes in the constituency.

Of these polling booths, 40 belonged to Bijbehara – the hometown of theformer puppet Chief Minister and President of pro-India Peoples DemocraticParty Mehbooba Mufti. Bijbehara had 120 polling booths set up for 93,289voters. A total of 1,893 electorate or two percent exercised theirfranchise when the polling ended at 4pm.

Even many family members of Mehbooba Mufti did not turn up at the pollingbooth to cast their vote. Mehbooba’s brother and former so-called ministerfor tourism, Tassaduq Mufti, was among the family members who choose tostay away from the polling process. The other family members of Mehboobawho did not exercise their franchise included her cousin and senior PDPleader, Sajjad Mufti, his wife and two children. The wife of Mehbooba’suncle Mufti Amin also did not turn up for voting.

Most of the polling stations in Bijbehara remained deserted as residentsdid not vote. The polling staff waited patiently for the polling time toget over.

A polling officer at a booth said, “One voter every 30-40 minutes is whatwe have been receiving. The people do not seem to be interested at all.”

It is to mention here that the Joint Resistance Leadership had called forboycott of the election drama.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Wednesday said he is tired oflistening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi “beat his own trumpet on what hedid to Pakistan” and asserted that people also want to hear him speak aboutissues such as demonetization and hate speeches.
