ISLAMABAD – Narndra Modi government gives emergency powers to the Indianarmed forces for buying equipment to enable them to fight wars on thewestern border with Pakistan.
The financial powers have been increased for all the three services andthey can buy weapon systems worth Rs 300 crore under each proposal, sourcesin the government told India Today.
Under this proposal, the Army is planning to buy 246 spike anti-tank guidedmissiles which can be used against enemy tank regiments and destroy them.
Similarly, the Navy and the Air Force are also preparing proposals forbuying missiles and other weapon systems which can prepare them fully for awar with Pakistan.
The services also can choose to buy equipment from a single vendor andwithout the concurrence of the integrated financial advisor.
The weapon systems allowed to be bought, have to be acquired and fieldedwithin three months of the proposal.
After the February 14 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, theIndian armed forces adopted an aggressive stance on the line of control andthe international borders.
