NEW DELHI – The georgian aircraft which had breached the Indian airspacethis afternoon has now been released, Additional Commissioner of Police ofJaipur said. The ACP also said that the Indian airspace breach was just aminor route violation.
Jaipur ACP said, “It was a minor route violation, the plane was made toland in Jaipur due to security concerns. It wasn’t a serious violation,it’s been released.”
The Ukranian aircraft – Antonov AN-12 cargo plane – had entered from anunauthorised air route from Pakistani side and forced to land at Jaipur airbase by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The AN-12 entered the Indian air space around 70 km north of an importantair base in the Rann of Kutch from the air space, which is closed forcivilian air traffic, sources said. The IAF sent its team from nearby basesto check the cargo contents of the aircraft.
The aircraft carrying spares was forced to land at 4.55 pm in Jaipur andits crew was questioned by the authorities concerned on the ground, seniorgovernment sources told ANI. The Ukranian aircraft was let off after aninvestigation.
The aircraft was successfully intercepted by highly alert IAF Air Defenceaircraft and was forced to land at Jaipur airfield,” IAF spokesperson GpCapt Anupam Bannerjee said.
