Govt determined to eradicate menace of terrorism: Dr Firdous

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Talking to PTV on Wednesday, she said remnants of terrorists have tried to prove their existence by targeting innocent people at Data Darbar in Lahore on Wednesday.

The Special Assistant said the government will bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice and take the country to progress and prosperity.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said anti-Pakistan forces have been conspiring to destabilize Pakistan, but they will not succeed in their plots.

She said law enforcement agencies have been operating against the terrorists to foil their designs.

Meanwhile, talking to office bearers of Parliamentary Reporters Association in Islamabad, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting said the government wants to bring reforms by introducing legislation in the Parliament.

She said legislation in public interest is imperative and media should not let point-scoring by the opposition.

Dr Firdous said freedom of expression is right of everybody in democracy and she has been given the responsibility to protect rights of the media.
