ISLAMABAD – Indian police arrested more than two dozen people in occupiedKashmir including a PhD scholar in overnight raids in different areas ofSouth Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service,the forces on late last night surroundeda cluster of houses in Murran area of Pulwama town and detained twenty-onepeople. These youth, according to the officials, were detained forquestioning for their alleged role in stone pelting incidents on forces.
Meanwhile, police during house raids arrested five persons in Tral andother areas of South Kashmir. Police claimed that the detainees wereinvolved in an abortive suicide car bomb attack on a Central Reserve PoliceForce convoy along the Jammu- Srinagar highway, last month.
The arrested persons include a PhD scholar, an active member ofJamiat-e-Talaba, Jammu Inspector General of Police M K Sinha told reportersin Jammu.
Meanwhile, police authorities also submitted a charge-sheet against nineyouth including Mohammed Shafeeq Butt, Waseem Khan, Bilal Ahmad Butt,Shazia Yaqoob and Tehseen Ahmed Batool on the fake charge of hatchingconspiracy for the militancy act.
The police arrested them in a case related to an attack in Batamaloo inSrinagar, in which one CRPF man was killed and another injured on July 24,last year.
