Pakistan makes a special request to Kuwait

KUWAIT : Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi makes a special request toKuwaiti authorities.

He has urged the Kuwaiti authorities to soften its visa policy forPakistani community.

He highlighted the issue during a meeting with Kuwaiti Interior MinisterKhaled Al Jarrah Al Sabah in Kuwait.

They discussed Pak-Kuwait bilateral relations and issue of visarestrictions. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistani workforce comprising overone hundred thousand individuals is playing an important role indevelopment of Kuwait.

He said the members of Pakistani community living in Kuwait for last manyyears are confused about the visa restrictions and are finding it hard toinvite their families to the country. The number of Pakistanis was 115,000in 2015 which has now reduced to 105,000 due to this reason.

Foreign Minister urged the Kuwaiti Interior Minister to review the visapolicy for Pakistanis and exempt Pakistan from visa restrictions in placesince 2011.

Khaled Al Jarrah Al Sabah assured the Foreign Minister that government ofKuwait will sympathetically look into the issue and will take serious stepsto resolve it.
