ISLAMABAD – India gets a strong snub from ally United States over OccupiedKashmir lockdown.
US Senator Bernie Sanders expressed serious concern over the deterioratingconditions in occupied Kashmir and termed India’s actions “unacceptable”.
The veteran senator, who is a fierce critic of the Donald Trumpadministration, said the US government must ensure the implementation ofinternational laws and should press for a peaceful resolution through theUnited Nations (UN).
“India’s action [in Kashmir] is unacceptable. The communications blockademust be lifted immediately, and the US government must speak out boldly insupport of international humanitarian law and in support of a UN-backedpeaceful resolution,” said Sanders, who is one of the leading Democraticpresidential candidates.
Speaking at the Islamic Society of North America, the senator said India’s“crackdown in the name of ‘security’ is also denying the Kashmiri peopleaccess to medical care”.
