ANKARA – A big diplomatic support for Pakistan against India from Turkey asANKARA has stood behind Pakistan’s stance in the UN Security Council.

Turkey on Saturday said it welcomes the consultations held at the UNSecurity Council on Indian held Kashmir on Friday under the title”India-Pakistan”, with a view to de-escalating tension in the region andupholding diplomacy.

Turkish Foreign Office in a statement said Turkey believes that the UNshould play a more active role in resolving the issue within the frameworkof the resolutions it adopted earlier.

We reaffirm our hope that the issue will be resolved on the basis ofinternational law and through dialogue between the relevant parties, and wecall upon the parties to exercise restraint and to refrain from unilateralsteps which may increase tension, the statement concluded.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that the recent meeting of theUnited Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Jammu and Kashmir dispute hasreaffirmed the earlier resolutions on the matter.

The premier took to Twitter and stated: “It is the responsibility of theinternational body to address the plight of Kashmiris.”

“I welcome the Security Council s meeting on Jammu and Kashmir […] it isthe first time in five decades that the Kashmir dispute is being discussedat the highest diplomatic forum.”
