ATC adjourns online blasphemy case hearing till Nov 1

ISLAMABAD: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to posting and sharing blasphemous content on the social media sites has ordered the defence counsel for conclusion of arguments as soon as possible as more than eighteen witnesses have so far been testified in the case.

The defence sought adjournment in the case against which the ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand expressed anger as well as granted him the same and asked to deposit Rs5000 in CJP Dam’s fund as a fine.
The ATC judge also asked the defence counsel for completion of cross examination of the witnesses for early conclusion of the case.

The case is in the court after the FIA registered an FIR No. 07/2017 under sections 295-A, 295-B, 295-C, 298, 298-A, 298-B, 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Sec 11 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, (PECA), 2016, and Sections 6(f), 7(h), 8 & 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
The court adjourned the hearing till November 1, 2018.
