KARACHI: A turbulent meeting of the City Council of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will be held today (Tuesday) after the metropolis’s Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohar joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
Arshad Vohra has joined the PSP but couldn’t still decide whether he would resign from his post or not.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) is considering putting forward a motion of no-confidence against Deputy Mayor of Karachi Arshad Vohra at city council meeting.
City Mayor Waseem Akhtar will chair the meeting today in a bid to unseat Vohra for joining the PSP.
On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has also started efforts to get the Deputy Mayor’s seat, and the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamaat-e-Islami have also been invited to join the alliance.
Sources said that several names were under consideration in the PPP for the Deputy Mayor slot.
