Turkish embassy in Pakistan reception to mark 93rd National Day

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Embassy of Turkey in Pakistan Monday hosted a glittering reception here to mark the 93rd anniversary of the Republic Day of Turkey.
The Republic Day is celebrated annually on October 29 to commemorate the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey officially declared by its founder and first president Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1923.
Turkish Ambassador in Islamabad Babur Girgin hosted the event that was attended by a huge number of members from Turkish community in Pakistan, who's who of the diplomatic corp and notables from across the federal capital.
Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Prime Minister's National Security Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjua were the prominent guests of the ceremony.
The national anthems of both Pakistan and Turkey were played at the ceremony.
The Turkish ambassador along with the guests also cut the celebratory cake. He also read out the message of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan felicitating the nation on the Republic Day and highlighting the Turkish journey towards progress during last 93 years.
In his message, the Turkish president said, "The Republic of Turkey has progressed by overcoming all the difficulties it has faced during these 93 years and, thanks to recent breakthroughs in particular, it has now accomplished to stand among the rising powers of the world. Turkey, with its growing economy, strong democracy, its commitment to fundamental human values and principled and visionary foreign policy, continues (to) be an inspiration to its region and to the World also today."
