Two Muslim Youth arrested for insulting ‘Goddess Kali’ on Facebook in India

MUMBAI: Two Muslims allegedly arrested by police in Mumbai over sharing an offensive image of goddess kali on Facebook.

 

Police claimed that one of the accused created the image and the other circulated it on social media.

 

Police arrested both under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and Section 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony).

 

According to the details, a complaint was launched on May 10 by a Hindu Extremists organization in Bhopal who threatened police to arrest persons who shared and liked the picture on Facebook group ‘Nadan Prinday’ otherwise they will hold massive protests.

 

The accused were identified as Ali Sheikh and Abdul Qureshi who belongs to Antop Hill are in Mumbai.

 

Both were sent to judicial custody after a one day police remand.
