High intensity earthquake jolts parts of Pakistan

*PESHAWAR: *An earthquake of high intensity jolted parts of Pakistan on Friday night.

Upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday night felt jolts but no causalities or property damages were reported.

According to the geological wing of PMD (Pakistan Meteorological Department), tremors measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale were felt in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat, Mingora, Chitral, Mardan, Malakand, Kohistan and various other surrounding areas. People of the areas were asleep at the time but woke up and vacated their homes in panic.

The epicentre of the quake was stated to be in Tajikistan, 230 kilometres beneath the earth’s crust.
