KABUL: Afghanistan refused to send its cricket team to Pakistan next month due to security reasons.

Afghan Cricket Board claimed that the tour is postponed and may take place in September due to security concerns after the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park incident which killed over 70 people.

Afghan team was expected to visit Pakistan to hold three-match One Day International (ODI) and other matches with club teams.

Afghanistan team visited Pakistan last year and played several matches against departmental teams.

Zimbabwe was the first team to visit Pakistan after armed attacks on Sri Lanka cricket team in 2009.

PCB officials refused to comment and claimed that the tour was not officially scheduled.

ICC Executive Committee Giles Clarke has also cancelled his visit to Pakistan to monitor security arrangements for World Xl’s tour of Pakistan.
