NAB KPK arrests ex. Secretary in corruption case

PESHAWAR: (APP) NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday arrested the then Secretary (BPS-19) Noman Bashir Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) Peshawar in a case of illegal appointment of 36 officials of (BPS 2-17) in Pakistan Tobacco Board, Peshawar.
The officer was presently working as Director Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Peshawar. He, in connivance with others, was allegedly involved in corruption and corrupt practices and misuse of authority, said NAB KP spokesman.
As per details, there were standing instructions of Ministry of Commerce regarding ban on recruitments. The accused during his tenure as Secretary Pakistan Tobacco Board illegally exercised full powers of Chairman PTB and in connivance with others recruited 36 individuals in blatant violation of standing instruction.
The inquiry was being actively perused, more arrests were on card. The accused would be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand to proceed further as per law.
