A representative from the United States State Department has recently expressed his endorsement of Pakistan's stance regarding the acts of terrorism perpetrated by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Thomas West, who serves as the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, offered his support for Pakistan's position in relation to the TTP's terrorist activities within the country.
This declaration was made during a seminar hosted at the Stimson Center, where Mr. West emphasized the significant threat posed by the TTP to regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, Mr. West pointed out that Pakistan has been witnessing a surge in TTP-led attacks originating from Afghan territory. He underscored the fact that those familiar with the region are well aware of the TTP's persistence in supporting the Afghan Taliban, even after being expelled from Pakistan. According to Mr. West, there exists a notable alignment between the Afghan Taliban and the TTP in terms of operational and financial backing.
In a tragic development, a suicide blast occurred during the primary procession of Eid Miladun Nabi in Balochistan's Mastung area, resulting in the loss of at least 52 lives and leaving over 70 individuals injured.
The explosion struck near the Madina Mosque, where people had congregated to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on a Friday. This horrifying incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for international cooperation in addressing the menace of terrorism in the region.
