The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has established a five-member fact-finding inquiry committee with the purpose of investigating allegations related to conflicts of interest in the media concerning the team selection process.
The PCB has stated that this fact-finding committee will promptly deliver its report and any recommendations to the PCB Management.
Earlier on the same day, Inzamam-Ul-Haq stepped down from his positions as the chairman of the national men's selection committee and the junior selection committee. In a statement, he expressed his decision to resign, emphasizing the importance of allowing the PCB to conduct a transparent inquiry into the conflict-of-interest allegations reported in the media. He also indicated his willingness to return as the chief selector if the committee finds him not guilty.
During an interview with a private TV channel, Inzamam-Ul-Haq expressed his readiness for any inquiry that the PCB wishes to undertake regarding his tenure as chief selector.
However, he decided to resign due to concerns raised about the transparency in the selection process for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, particularly in light of the team's underperforming campaign.
He also clarified that he has no affiliations with any players' agent firm and lamented the unfounded speculations surrounding the issue without a proper investigation. Inzamam-Ul-Haq mentioned that he has been informed about a five-member committee tasked with examining the matter.
