A call for the resignation of Inzamam-ul-Haq, the Chief Selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board, by former cricketer Basit Ali. The plea for Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation is a response to allegations made by PCB Managing Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf concerning the poor performance of the Pakistani cricket team in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Zaka Ashraf, in an interview, hinted at concerns about business agreements involving cricketers and chief selectors, potentially influenced by a management company's involvement with the team.
Zaka Ashraf expressed the intention of the cricket board to establish legislation regarding these business agreements, as they might be causing conflicts of interest within the team. He stated that the chief selectors would be subject to questioning, and appropriate legislation would be formulated.
Basit Ali, appearing on the ARY News program Har Lamha Purjosh, emphasized the gravity of the allegations raised by Zaka Ashraf and called for Inzamam-ul-Haq's immediate resignation.
Basit Ali questioned the necessity of meeting with the chief selector when serious allegations had already been leveled against him, suggesting that such matters should have been handled discreetly before any formal inquiry.
Additionally, former wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal highlighted the role of agents in connecting players with business opportunities, but he stressed the importance of adhering to ethical boundaries, and he recommended that the PCB investigate any breaches of these boundaries.
