In a recent development, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the chief selector of the national cricket team, has decided to step down from his role. His decision stems from concerns over the prevalence of unsubstantiated allegations, as he believes that it is prudent to resign if his integrity is questioned.
He stressed the importance of conducting thorough investigations before making accusations and assured his cooperation with the Pakistan Cricket Board for any inquiry, offering to provide evidence to support his claims.
Additionally, Inzamam-ul-Haq had recommended to the PCB that they should initiate an inquiry and, if allegations are made against him, ensure that supporting evidence is presented. He clarified that he had no involvement with a player's agent company in the UK and deemed such accusations unfounded.
When allegations were raised against him, he held discussions with the board, and upon learning that a committee of five individuals had been formed, he chose to resign from his position until the committee concludes its investigation.
He concluded by expressing his willingness to engage in further discussions with the PCB once everything is clarified. It is noteworthy that Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation coincided with the national cricket team's presence in India for the World Cup, where they faced a series of defeats.
Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, mentioned that he was not present at the office, making it impossible for him to have met Inzamam-ul-Haq.
He expressed his respect for Inzamam-ul-Haq and stated that a five-member committee, comprising anti-corruption unit members and PCB officials, has been established to investigate the allegations.
