SC adjourns contempt proceedings against Aamir Liaquat for indefinite period

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court adjourned contempt of court proceedings against MNA, Aamir Liaquat Hussain for indefinite period.
A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Faisal Arab, adjourned the case due to non-availability of Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, who is head of this bench.

On previous hearing, the court had framed charge-sheet against the accused after rejecting his unconditional apology and maintained that the politician had violated court orders on March 6, 2017 that counted as contempt of court, however PTI leader pleaded not guilty.

“I seek an unconditional apology and leave myself at the mercy of the court,” Liaquat said during the hearing.
Liaquat was charged under Article 204 (3) of the Constitution.
