US Drone strike in Kurram Agency kills three

PESHAWAR – At least three people were reportedly killed in a US drone strike in an area of Kurram Agency, one of the seven tribal agencies, on Thursday.

According to local media, the drone fired two missiles reportedly hitting the house of a Taliban commander named Rashid.

The attack was carried out at 4:30am on Thursday in which the house completely destroyed.

There was no immediate confirmation of the drone strike from government officials.

In June, a US drone strike had reportedly killed a commander of Haqqani militant network in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district.

Haqqani network leader Abubakar and his partner were killed when a drone fired two missiles at his house in Speen Tal area of Hangu.

Following a US drone strike in Hangu, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that unilateral actions such as drone strikes are counterproductive and against the spirit of ongoing cooperation and intelligence sharing diligently undertaken by Pakistan.
